How much does a laser cleaning machine cost?
Our HS-CL200 200 W pulsed laser cleaner is $ 5,900, delivered to the US with duties included. The 300 W version is by quote. For comparison, other pulsed 200–300 W cleaners on US seller sites list at about $6,000–$16,000, and continuous-wave (CW) cleaners of 2,000–3,000 W at about $10,000–$14,500.
| Type | Listed prices seen | Best for | Heat into the part |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pulsed, 200 W (HS-CL200) | $ 5,900, delivered | Parts, molds, weld seams, paint on parts you repaint | Low |
| Pulsed, 300 W | About $6,500–$16,000 | The same jobs, faster; heavier daily use | Low |
| Continuous wave, 2,000–3,000 W | About $10,000–$14,500 | Heavy rust on big steel, square meters every day | High |
Other brands: listed prices seen on US seller sites in Google Shopping (ZAC, SFX, Trilar, MCWlaser, and a JPT-source unit on eBay). Listing prices change often, and many exclude shipping and duties. A "3000 W" listing at a few hundred dollars is not a real machine price. Forum buyers warn that prices like that are "how scams work" (GarageJournal).
Running cost
Mostly electricity. The HS-CL200 draws under 748 W. At about 13.9 ¢/kWh, the US business average (EIA), one hour of cleaning costs about $0.10.
Consumables
No sand, grit or stripper. The one wear part is the protective lens window in the gun. Replace it when it hazes.
Hiring a service instead
Laser cleaning services charge about $100–$300 per hour (JPT). For one job a year, a service is cheaper. If you clean every week, owning a machine pays back sooner.
Pulsed or continuous wave: which laser cleaner do you need?
Choose pulsed for parts, molds and thin metal. Choose continuous wave (CW) for heavy rust on big steel.
Pulsed lasers clean with very short bursts, so very little heat goes into the part. CW lasers run a steady beam at 1,500–3,000 W. They strip heavy rust from large steel faster, but heat the surface. In a test published in Laser Focus World, CW cleaning melted the aluminum surface and left it 1.5 times rougher. Pulsed cleaning left it close to the original (Laser Focus World).
| Pulsed 200 W | CW 1,500–3,000 W | |
|---|---|---|
| Molds, thin sheet, aluminum | Yes, low heat | Risk of melting and warping |
| Light rust, oxide, oil | Yes | Yes |
| Heavy rust on large steel | Works, but slowly | Faster |
| Surface after cleaning | Close to the original | Rougher; may discolor |
| Machine | About 25 kg, air cooled | Larger cabinet; usually water cooled |

What a laser cleaner can clean, and what it cannot
A laser removes a layer that absorbs the beam faster than the metal under it. Rust, paint, oxide, carbon and oil absorb 1064 nm light well. Bare steel reflects more of it. So the beam strips the layer and mostly stops at the metal.
Rust and scaleLight to medium rust comes off in one or two passes. Heavy, flaking rust works too, but slowly. Rust removal guide.
Molds and toolingNo contact and low heat, so cavities keep their shape. Start with low power so a mold coating is not stripped by mistake.
Weld seamsClean oxide and oil before welding, or heat tint and soot after. Use low power and a wide scan on thin aluminum.
Paint and coatingsStrip paint where you need bare metal: repairs, welds, ground points. Thick multi-coat paint is slow, at about 0.6 m² an hour.

| Check | Why it matters (HS-CL200 answer) |
|---|---|
| Pulsed or CW, and the watts | It decides heat and speed. (Pulsed, 200 W.) |
| Fiber cable length | It sets how far the gun reaches from the unit. (3 m standard; longer by custom order. For work farther away, roll the 25 kg unit along with you.) |
| Voltage | A 220 V-only unit needs a new outlet in many US shops. (Set to 110 V or 220 V before shipping.) |
| Cooling | Water chillers need water and frost care. (Air cooled, 5–40 °C.) |
| Delivered cost | Freight and duties can add a lot. (Free US and Canada shipping; US duties included.) |
| Who helps after the sale | Settings take practice. (Manuals, videos, email, WhatsApp and remote sessions; replies within 24 hours on working days.) |
| Eyewear and extraction | Class IV beam and fumes. (One pair of 1064 nm glasses is in the box. Add a fume extractor; see below.) |

Safety, fumes and maintenance
Plan for three things: 1064 nm eyewear, fume extraction, and a clean protective lens.
Eyes and skin
A handheld laser cleaner is a Class IV laser. The FDA says Class IV lasers are an immediate eye and skin hazard, from the direct or the reflected beam (FDA). One pair of 1064 nm glasses comes with the HS-CL200; everyone else in the area needs their own. Close off the area and keep flammable items away.
Fumes
Removed paint and coatings become fume. Use an extractor with a HEPA filter. On lead paint, follow the OSHA lead rules: a limit of 50 µg/m³ and an action level of 30 µg/m³ (OSHA).
Maintenance
Check the protective lens window daily; power drops first when it hazes. Put the dust cap on the gun when you stop. Leave about 10 cm of free air around the vents. Never bend the cable hose tighter than a 100 mm radius. Run the unit between 5 and 40 °C.

Laser cleaning machine questions
How does a laser cleaning machine work?
The gun sweeps a focused 1064 nm laser line across the surface. Rust, paint and oil absorb the energy and break up into dust and fume. The metal under them reflects more of the beam, so it is barely touched.
Will a laser cleaner damage the metal?
A pulsed cleaner at sensible settings leaves the base metal close to its original surface. Too much power, or holding the gun still, can leave heat marks. Thin parts and aluminum need low power and more passes.
Is 200 W enough?
For parts, molds, weld prep and light to medium rust, yes. Published 200 W rates run about 2–8 m² an hour on rust, depending on thickness. For more area per day, ask about our 300 W version. For square meters of heavy rust every day, a 1,500–3,000 W CW cleaner or blasting is faster.
Can I rent a laser cleaner?
Rentals exist but are hard to find in the US. Laser cleaning services charge about $100–$300 an hour. For a one-off job, a service usually costs less than buying.
What power supply does the HS-CL200 need?
A normal outlet. We set the unit to 110 V or 220 V before it ships, to match your country. It draws under 748 W.
What maintenance does it need?
Not much. Clean or replace the protective lens window, cap the gun when idle, keep 10 cm of air around the vents, and do not bend the cable hose tighter than 100 mm. There is no water chiller to drain.
Can it clean wood or stone?
Yes, at low power. It can strip paint from wood (see the video above). On light-colored stone, test a hidden spot first: one study found yellowing on white marble at 1064 nm (IAPH).
Tell us what you need to clean
Send a part photo, the metal, the layer to remove, the area, and how often you clean. Bulk, OEM and other countries are welcome.
